Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer

Location: Eindhoven Area (min. 80% on-site)
Hours: 32 to 40 hours per week
Salary range: € 3.985 – € 7.025 excl. 8% holiday allowance

Shape the legal backbone of a company that's rewriting the rules of e-commerce. Our client, a fast-growing e-commerce company is scaling quickly: new partners, new payment flows, new markets, new regulations. They're looking for a Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer who doesn't hide behind disclaimers, but sits at the table and shows the business what can be done.

Make your Mark

You'll be the single point of contact for everything legal and compliance related, reporting straight to the CEO and sparring daily with Finance & Business Control, HR and the commercial teams. This is not a role where you inherit a polished framework and keep it warm. You build it, you own it, and you make it work at the pace the business moves. Your advice shapes real decisions, not just paperwork.

What you'll do

• Advise proactively on commercial, corporate, governance, shareholder and compliance matters

• Draft, review and update commercial contracts, general terms and conditions, privacy and cookie policies and other legal documentation

• Independently prepare and lead negotiations with payment service providers (PSPs), partner banks, suppliers, business clients and other commercial partners

• Own the AML/Wwft compliance framework, including policy, procedures and controls, and coordinate legal and compliance input for audits and due diligence

• Identify, assess and mitigate legal, compliance and process risks, with clear advice on priority and follow up

• Guide restructurings, financing and shareholder matters and internal decision making, including preparing and formally recording resolutions

• Support HR with practical advice on employment law, agreements and policy documents

What you'll bring

• A completed Master's degree in Dutch law, preferably with a broad corporate or commercial foundation

• At least five years of experience as an attorney or in house counsel, with demonstrable independence in advising and handling your own files

• Solid knowledge of Dutch contract law, corporate law and corporate governance

• Extensive experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts in both Dutch and English

• Up to date knowledge of AML/Wwft and privacy law, with affinity for regulation around e-commerce, payment flows and consumer protection

• Excellent Dutch and English, spoken and written

• Experience in e-commerce, payment services, fintech or the gift card sector is a strong plus

• A pragmatic, analytical and solution oriented mindset, with a feel for commercial dynamics

• The ability to communicate complex matters clearly, take ownership, and stay firm and thorough under pressure or when interests collide
