Working as an Expat Partner in Brainport Eindhoven.
Your partner works as a knowledge migrant – but what about you?
Moving to the Eindhoven region often means one partner lands a role at ASML, Philips, NXP, or Vanderlande, while the other arrives with ambitions of their own. The good news: your partner's knowledge migrant status does not limit your freedom to work in the Netherlands.
The rules are straightforward
As the partner of a knowledge migrant, you are entitled to work in the Netherlands without any additional permit or restriction. You do not need to meet the same salary thresholds or qualification requirements. Once you have your residence permit as a family member, you are free to pursue employment in any sector, at any level.
This is a significant advantage that many expat partners are not aware of when they first arrive.
What does the job market look like in Brainport?
The Eindhoven region is one of the most active tech and innovation hubs in Europe. Companies in IT, Cyber Security, Finance, Marketing, and Engineering are continuously looking for talent. Whether you have a background in a technical field or a commercial one, opportunities exist across the board.
The challenge, however, is navigating an unfamiliar job market, without a local network, without knowing which companies are hiring, and often without experience in the Dutch hiring culture.
